Dot NAME Domain Name Registrations

Launched in 2001, the Dot NAME generic top-level domain name extension is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal websites only. These domain names can be personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other labels people are famous by. At the beginning, just third-level registrations were possible, so if you planned to register john.doe.name, you had to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already grabbed 3rd-level names remained working.
